The gusher is just one sign that the chilly environment that set the backdrop in the original Ice Age film is ending. Finally, the hapless critter tries to drink up the water, causing his belly to balloon. As Scrat plugs the hole with his claw, another spout forms, and another. Suddenly, a stream of water gushes through a hole in the ice. This animal-named Scrat-is after an acorn lodged high up in the ice. Retrieved from Ī squirrel-like creature claws its way up a giant wall of ice.
And the humor is a little more varied this time and not completely non stop.Īnd the animation is a little better, you can almost feel the beautiful sunlight here.Īnd the music score here is a BIG improvement since the first movie! ( I mean it's John Powell! ) The first have only a few memorable scores, while in this movie pretty much all the scores are memorable.Īnd I also like how the interaction between the characters feels a little bit nicer this time, which makes sense since they know each other better now. And I like how Scrat actually come to some use for the story in the end and wasn't just a masqot. And she is a great female addition to the team. And I like how this new character Ellie is a very smart girl and her little story where she believes she's an opossum is interesting. The story is a little better, when they're setting up that Manny may be the very last mammut. I can't wait until there's a movie where the boy character says, "you're snotty and high maintenance, I'd rather stay single!" :) Anyway, it's a cute movie, degraded by the rude humor, but not ruined by it in my opinion. There is also the constant theme of the girl (Queen Latifa's character) who takes pleasure in making the boy (Manny) bend over backwards to win her affection. My 11 year old felt sorry for the squirrel at times, working so hard and never getting that darn acorn. We all laughed out loud at times, especially during the sequences with the squirrel and the acorn - those are really funny. Our 7 year old was worried at times about the menacing dinosaurs and the beloved characters being in peril. Without the tasteless humor, I would give the movie 4 stars for entertainment value. If possible, I would give this movie 2.5 stars. I wish CSM would add a symbol for rudeness. I really wanted to like this movie, and I did enjoy some of it - there are lovable characters and creative cute parts, but I found the rude dialogue distracting and distasteful. Our family watched it, including our 7 and almost 11 year olds. We rented this movie, and I confess that I didn't see the first part.
